Hey there, my name is Lucas and I make music. I grew up on a farm in Missouri and listened exclusively to Bryan Adams and 90's pop radio for the first decade of my life. I also liked big band music, ragtime piano, and Christmas songs. I learned to play piano, guitar, hammered dulcimer, and the drum kit. As I got older and explored different instruments, a lot of those earlier influences really stayed with me, especially when I began writing. I picked up mandolin and started playing some bluegrass. I even learned cello to go on tour with a band once. It's been a long journey.

I always wrote songs but never had the peace of mind to finish a body of work. It's always easier to start things than to finish them. I was living in Columbia, MO when I started touring in lots of bands like Minus Story, Hospital Ships, Old Canes, Appleseed Cast, and Shearwater. All the while I worked on my own music, keeping my fingers crossed that things might time out one day.

On June 15th, 2013 I released my debut album The Things We've Seen. I recorded the songs at my house in San Antonio where I had recently relocated. The tracks were mostly laid down when I was home between Shearwater tours in 2012. I played most of the instruments myself but was grateful to have some awesome friends lend their time and talents to the project. I mixed the record at home and asked my friend and talented engineer Wil Reeves to finesse my mixes and master the record.

I enjoy cooking, traveling, taking walks with my lady and my dog, playing piano, recording music, and making new friends. I'm partial to Vietnamese food.
