FREQY HOUR featuring BORDERLANDS w/ Everyday Jones
☆ Opening act(s): Everyday Jones
With their first CD, Shout It Out Loud, Borderlands songwriter Kurt Griesemer draws inspiration from Rockabilly, Folk, Pop, Country, Americana, Rock and a bit o' Irish. Five years of songwriting; three years of recording; 50 odd minutes of music; nothing but stories...and aren’t all stories are true? Shout It Out Loud has working man blues, love songs, the occasional anti-establishment piece, and a good chunk of old country. As hard as it is to describe, suffice to say there's something for everyone that loves music that tells a story.
Borderlands plays music from at least five era's, five genre's, and four countries. Inspired by artists such as Great Big Sea, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Grateful Dead, Johnny Cash, The Talking Heads, The Saw Doctors, Neil Young, The Violent Femmes, and many, many more, Borderlands' approach to music has been to play what sounds good regardless of origin or age. Including many traditional pieces and inspired Appalachian music, Borderlands' sound ranges somewhere between rock, folk, bluegrass, punk and country, with a bit of everything for every crowd.
Borderlands has shared the stage at Fitchburgh Days with Green Tea and opened for the Celtic Legends dance troupe out of Ireland for the Jefferson County Council for the Performing Arts. With performances that range from kid-friendly to pub atmosphere, Borderlands fits the mood of any venue in ways that other bands simply can't. Kurt Griesemer (Guitar, Lead Vocals, Bodhran), Carl Rozas (Fiddle, Vocals), and Jim Turk (Drums and Percussion, Vocals), seasoned musicians from many different styles of music, make Borderlands’ sound sing out.
