Like love poetry carved into the planks of prison bunks, Mother Culture smuggles stories of hope through the clutches of winter's silence. Accepting no constraints from without, these 5 self-proclaimed vagabonds piece together vividly real dreamscapes meticulously crafted against a backdrop of equality and social awareness. Resting somewhere between protest folk and disco punk, its as if Joe Strummer and Joni Mitchell made a record amidst a dystopian dream, only to awake in a David Bowie dance number. Each song on the band's latest four song EP release entitled "Sold Your Voice" unabashedly stands on its own two feet, budding consciousness of one's own power to affect change. Buzzsaw guitars, soaring synth leads, and syncopated rhythms quickly recede into a sea of vocal swells calling out for peace and justice.
