Jennifer Hedstrom
Jennifer Hedstrom’s original songs combine her classically trained background with calculated lyricism, drawing comparisons to artists such as Regina Spektor and Markéta Irglová from The Swell Season. Her debut album, Bodies of Water, was released in June of 2011. Mastered by her good friend and creative collaborator Yoo Soo Kim of Hemmingbirds, the album is currently available for download on Bandcamp. At times swelling and full of emotion and the next as calm and clear as a reflecting pool, the themes of Bodies of Water are as varied and ever-changing as its namesake.

Jennifer’s musical inclinations began in her hometown of Skokie, IL. Surrounded by a music-loving family, Jennifer was exposed to a wide variety of music from birth—her father, glued to Chicago's public radio jazz station in the den, oldies playing in the car on the way to a store, a muffled Smashing Pumpkins blaring behind the door of her brothers' room. Jennifer began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 when her mother read Jennifer's determination to clang on any piano in sight as an unfaltering interest in living a musical life. This determination still hasn’t ceased, as Jennifer currently maintains a successful career as a pianist and piano teacher in Madison, WI, performing in genres ranging from musical theater to avant-garde classical music.
