Schäffer The Darklord
Coolzey - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Coolzey
Golden era hip-hop roots planted in black Iowa dirt and tempered by 90s alternative era rock influence yields a juxtaposition of the dark, horrific nature of life paired with a slapstick and comedic view of the world, allowing for a wide, unpredictable arsenal of material ranging from soul-spilling indie bedroom rock to wise-cracking battle rap and on to radio pop.

Coolzey stepped into the public eye around 2005 with a demo album and a series of exploratory DIY tours with rapper/comedian and friend Schaffer the Darklord. Interest spread quickly and Coolzey found himself touring alongside hip-hop legends from Brand Nubian and Jurassic 5 as well as punk rock heroes like Dead Milkmen. Coolzey’s first album ‘The Honey’ was released in 2010 and second official full-length ‘Hit Factory’ in 2013. In these albums as well as in a number of EPs, collaborations and side projects, he finds his niche as a songwriter, navigating hip-hop, rock, punk and pop in the spirit of genre defying influences such as Ween, Beck, The Beastie Boys and Outkast.

Coolzey’s love for multiple genres can also be evidenced in his record label Public School Records, which curates music from grimy underground hip-hop like Copywrite to the art pop of Belly Belt.
Our Friends, The Savages - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Our Friends, The Savages
Craigslist and acquaintances. Mineral and metal. Old friends and new. Sadness and anger. Our Friends, the Savages is a melding of styles, personalities, and friendships. Finding common ground in genres of metal, stoner rock, indie rock, and old school emo builds a sound of bittersweet softness, angular rhythms, and vulgar leads.

Our Friends, the Savages (OFTS) stems from Madison, WI and cultivated in 2015. The members–Erik, John, Michael, and Shawn–come from projects past and present such as Wherewolverines, Rust Belt Sermon, and Outlander. Their songs follow a landscape of highs and lows, loud and soft, groovy and choppy.

Insightful and restless–OFTS’ lyrics explore the dynamics of the human existence from the personal turmoil of interdependent relationships to the societal constructs of culture and politics. The very essence of their name binds these divergent dimensions. The music offers a logical backbone and a necessary emphasis to the associated emotions. One song may find a polyrhythmic drum beat, a searing lead, an atypical chord structure, and a prodding bass line all directing the listener to think, listen, and react.

Late 2016 will see the debut of their sound that has been refining in a basement and a rented space for over a year.
Neu Dae - (Set time: 12:00 AM)
Neu Dae
neumy + evaridae = neu dae. Original Madison, WI hip-hop.
neu dae is the realization of a collaborative process founded by neumy and evaridae in 2013 to make music and destroy mediocrity in hip-hop. Neumy flows effortlessly with a self-aware sting that begs the listener to rethink the rules and crack a beer or 7, with a nod to storytellers and lyricists like 2Pac, Slug, and Eminem. Evaridae deploys a chameleon of sound as the backdrop beat, blending influences from 90's east coast boom bap to more contemporary trap and midwest hip-hop. Now go enjoy music! And remember, tomorrow is a neu dae.
